I registered for my 4th year at CalArts yesterday!  Man is time flying by.  Today also marks the second year of my dad's passing.  Time keeps moving forward for better or worse.

Here's the colored and pencil version of this piece.

Dahlia Sketches

Here are some WIP sketches of a girl I'm drawing based off of a Dahlia flower.  I'll have a final/colored version up tomorrow!

 Lots have happened.  I've finished my third year of school, and I've been to France!  I went to the Annecy Film Festival and met lots of lovely people and saw amazing beautiful thiiiinggssssss.

I'll be covering more with my next updates.

I haven't posted in forever and I apologize.  I'm wrapping up my last week here as a third year, then it's onto fourth year!!!  AAAAHHHHHHHHH, when did that happen.

I highly recommend that you play the song since the drawing I did goes with it.

I want this to be a weekly gig, taking a song and creating something inspired by it.

Mountain

This is my favorite thing that I got out of adding stuff to my portfolio for Portfolio Day.

Flowers

I've done a lot of designs based on flowers and this is one of them.

Portfolio day is coming up next week so I'll be posting a lot of stuff and I'll be updating my portfolio website along with the designs of this website and so on and so forth.

Daisy

I found a new show, it's called Downton Abbey and it is amazing.  It has gorgeous shots and costumes and the writing is just brilliant.

Go watch it!!

This is Daisy, she works in the kitchen.

Detail:

In the kitchen the sunlight is always creating a glow around it's inhabitants.  Daisy is portrayed as a fresh faced, pale and pink character.  Always innocent, young and forever in that light.

Until Season 2!! Which I'm currently watching, so shush!

On top of all those amazing things I listed about the show, the music is gorgeous too!  Have a listen.

Film Concept

Here's my first bit of concept art for my third year film.

Widow

 I usually just have a thumbnail and go for it in photoshop, but I actually did the drawing on paper so I have all my steps.

I had the image of the fragile woman and her ring finger in the beam of light idea in my head, doodled it out.

Then I had to back up to see where the beam of light would be coming from to make that angle on the bed.

Final sketch with values laid in with more pencil work and the levels altered in Photoshop.

Added photoshop values to block it out even more.

Then I added colors and kept tweakin!  Final is at the top o'course.

I even drew the couple in the frame on a different piece of paper.

Dreams do come true, for serious

I took a few hours today to search for rooms to rent so that I had some place to stay while at CalArts. After e-mailing 6 or 7 people about renting a room, I get a call from CalArts saying that a student cancelled their dorm room, and I won the luck of the draw and got the room!!! AND THEN, she took my roommate request that my friend and I sent in and we get to room togther!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So heck yes, this is amazing insanity! 26 Days.

Did the 'title' give you enough excitement?! Because I just wanted to come on here and make up for my last lackluster post. I SWEAR I'm excited for CalArts, for serious. I've just wanted this for long and have researched and read other students blogs and thought about what I would do for their class projects, that I'm still in shock and disbelief. I'll have rare moments 2 or 3 times a day where I realize I'm going to CalFREAKIN'Arts, but otherwise I'm still oblivious. It hasn't fully set in. I just wanted to make sure that whoever reads this knows I am just in shock and awe that I got into my dream school and that I get to follow my dream.

In other news I cut 10 inches off my hair and donated it to Locks of Love. I've done this one other time before in my freshmen or sophomore year of high school, and now I'm not sure if my hair's ever made it. I left before either place bagged 'em up. I mentioned this to my mom and she was just, "Ah geez just stop."

I've been wait listed for a dorm room at CalArts, but someone on animatedbuzz just got an e-mail that he got a room, so I'm still hopeful...
